Muuree collects as little as possible. The canvas works entirely in your browser without an account — cloud features only activate if you choose to sign in. Here's what we hold and why.

1. What we collect

When you use Muuree without an account

Your boards, elements, comments, and settings are stored only in your browser's local storage. We cannot see or access them. We may collect aggregate, anonymous usage statistics (pages loaded, broad geographic region) through standard server logs — no personal identifiers are retained.

When you create an account

We collect the information you provide at sign-up: email address and (for password sign-up) a securely hashed password. If you sign in with a third-party provider such as Google, we receive only the authentication metadata that provider shares with us (typically email address and display name).

When you enable cloud sync

Your boards, elements, comments, and slide structure are copied to our database (Supabase Postgres, hosted in the EU) so they are available across your devices. You can delete your account at any time, which removes this data permanently.

Technical diagnostics

If the editor encounters a runtime error, a stripped, anonymized diagnostic record may be written to our error log. These records contain error type, timestamp, and app version — never board content, personal data, or API keys.

3. Third-party services we rely on

If you use a bring-your-own API key (Groq, Gemini, or Anthropic), your key is stored only in your browser's local storage and is never transmitted to our servers.

EU / EEA users (GDPR)

Our legal basis for processing your data is: contractual necessity (to provide the service), legitimate interest (error diagnostics and fraud prevention), and consent (marketing emails). You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

California users (CCPA)

We do not sell personal information. California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale (which does not apply here). To exercise these rights, contact hello@muuree.com.

5. Cookies and local storage

Muuree does not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. The editor uses your browser's local storage to persist your work on-device. This data is never shared with us or any third party unless you enable cloud sync.

The following keys are written to local storage:

You can clear all local Muuree data at any time via your browser's developer tools (Application → Local Storage → muuree.com). This does not affect cloud-synced data.

6. Data retention

Account data (email, boards, elements) is retained until you delete your account, after which it is removed within 30 days. Anonymized error logs are retained for 90 days. IP-based rate-limit counters are deleted automatically after 24 hours. Local-only users hold their own data — we have no copy.

7. Data transfers

Muuree operates servers in the United States and European Union. If you are located outside these regions, your data may be transferred internationally. We rely on Supabase's and Vercel's standard contractual clauses and data processing agreements for these transfers.

8. Children

Muuree is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe we have done so in error, email hello@muuree.com and we will remove it promptly.

9. Changes to this policy

If we update this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will notify account holders by email and post a notice on this page at least 30 days before the change takes effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
